  1. I switched to Venture Limited Ingredient Pollock and Pumpkin for my Malamute after being on Earthborn Coastal Catch. They are both grain-free and both made by Earthborn, but the Coastal Catch had lots of peas in the first several ingredient.

    Any thoughts on the Venture?

  2. Hello Dr Jones , I have 2 black Labs Male & a female. The Male is almost 95lbs and female is around 65lbs I feed they " Only natural pet" red meat food, that’s all I give them! I really want to mix it up ,like u said about your dog, what do u think about the food I’m giving them? Can I mix it up too?

  3. "The FDA has linked Grain Free Dog Foods with a type of Heart Disease in dogs, DCM (Dilated Cardiomyopathy)." Overtly false. They announced they are actively investigating to see if there is a correlation. They have not yet discovered one. If the veterinary industry could somehow remove their heads from the asses of Hills and Mars, they might start heading in a direction of objectivity. Please stop spewing this nonsense dictated by the interests of your corporate partners.

Pet owners are already reactive and paranoid enough, they don’t need bad information. You are not helping. e.g. Fromm gold hasn’t included duck in the formula for several years now.

  4. How about when vets don’t get paid by the companies who conducted these "tests". How do we start on a diet like what you feed your dog? See a dog nutritionist?

  5. i wished had made more effort to make my own dog food more often,my dog will only eat ceser classics in loaf mainly,

  6. 500!!!! theirs millions of dogs, I read the report it says some breeds, especially large and giant breeds, have a predisposition to DCM. It also says “At this time, there is no proof that these ingredients are the cause of DCM in a broader range of dogs, but dog owners should be aware of this alert from the FDA. The FDA continues to work with veterinary cardiologists and veterinary nutritionists to better understand the effect, if any, of grain-free diets on dogs.”

  7. i feed my little 7 lb. dog Nutro kibble essentials, andfresh pet small dog bite size for small dogs, he is 11 and seems to like both. are they ok?

  14. What about Purina Pro Plan? When my dog was diagnosed with dilated cardiomyopathy, the cardiologist told me to switch her off of grain free and start feeding her this. 16. YAY! My dog eats the number 1 food! Thanks to you Doc, I no longer put peas in any of his food. He gets a bowl of cooked food ( meat and veggies) in the morning and a bowl of dry Nutro stays down all day for when he wants it.

  17. I feed my 9 month GSD Instinct Raw Boost, large breed puppy and will transition to adult version of the same brand. The adult version has 5 flavors so you’re dog will never be bored with its food. I think it’s the best out there, bar none

  18. Changed our 5 yr old cat to Cornucopia Pet Foods, and raw meat turkey and chicken, started my 8 wk old puppy also on Cornucopia with Phyto nutrients..

  19. After adopting a dog with severe food allergies, I am relieved and happy to see a vet that thinks raw is a healthy part of a varied diet for dogs. A raw based diet with a unique protein (llama) pretty much saved my dog from a life of misery and yeast infections. I’ve been lectured harshly by a couple of vets about raw, when all the reading I did pointed that it would be beneficial. He now has a more varied diet, as we’ve found more foods he is okay with, and is a completely different pet than when we first got him. I’m impressed with your food and supplement recommendations, keep up the good work!

  20. My senior has sensitive stomach. I tried homemade but he has soft stool. He is ok with Candida and from gold senior
