The Cane Corso, otherwise known as the Italian Mastiff, is the descendant of dogs used by the ancient Romans in warfare.
For centuries the dogs have been kept on farms and used as catch dogs for cattle and swine.
They have also been used for boar hunting and to guard property, livestock, and the family home.
The question arises : What It’s Like to Own a Cane Corso today ?
In this video we invited an owner and also an expert of cane cotso dogs, the Jason Corey. We hope you enjoyed the video.

Are Cane Corsos good with other small dogs?

  4. Taz B on May 29, 2022 at 5:43 pm

The Presa Canario was also originally a war dog but mine thought he was a pussycat and let all the little puppies chase him and the small kids cuddle him. He was also highly protective of the family. Sadly, as is with all large dogs, he only lived to 10yrs. I will always remember him!

I had a Dogue De Bordeaux. From the best breeder in the UK. I spent 6 months training him from a puppy. He was incredibly loyal. Well trained. Sadly people still reacted excessively. Picking their dogs up. Picking children up (causing the child to cry as if there’s something to be scared of. Now they just have a kid afraid of big dogs). Asking if he was a Pitt bull. People are clueless.

He got a few nips from little yappy dogs people have on extendable Leashes and dress in jumpers and hats and just let them bark at anything that moves. I always thought owning a dog should be like passing a driving test. God I loved him. Lenny. If I ever got a dog again. It would be a cane corso. More trainable. Slightly less drool. More muscular. And black. So cool.

I’ll take two, as long as they’re the size of a rhino Two, because my Pities’ now are just fluff toys to them, and they need an "equal" play mate.
. . . My Rotties though: One was 150, and the other was 155 Lbs. of solid mussel. They played way dangerous impact games at full ramming speed.. Us Humans just ain’t up to that level of "Play". You could hear Raleigh and Zach’s SMACK Impact from three blocks away. Corso’s..? Yeah. It’s just that much more so. So don’t placing yourself between the magnet and the steel plate, right? Being such, I need two of these beautiful, sweet, 4 legged kids to snuggle on and spoil totally rotten. `Huge sloppy wet kisses for well deserved belly-rubs! The more they love, the more dire they protect! Learn it, live it, and depend upon it. They will willfully give their very lives for you. Make it worthy of their absolute honor to you, and protect them from willful imbecilics and evil idiots.

He is one of the few (i guess americans) who pronounce the name right.
    Cane corso….hear alot kain corso.
I have dad 3 different dog breeds in my life.
First rottweiler second cane corso and last pittbull.
The rottweiler we had was grumpy i didnt trust him around kids and i had that experience with other rottweiler owners.
The pittbull was very kind but high energy and need alot of atention.

And then there was the cane corso.
    Gambler was his name.
By far the best dog i ever had!
    Very relaxed en dosile.
I was a fighter in kickboxing competition.and when my 4yr old nephew came by. I put the boxing gloves on him to spar with the dog.
They both had a blast and the dog was so sweet for the kid.

  16. Manitoba Life on May 29, 2022 at 5:59 pm

Love your dog by the way. I have a pure bred Great Dane and d*** hes huge… Our neighbor has like this small Wiener dog and that dog loves my dog. When their dog is playing with my dog he doesn’t move…

  17. DMT on May 29, 2022 at 6:03 pm

3:49 dog: “who ya talking to? There’s nobody there”.

  18. Claude on May 29, 2022 at 6:07 pm

Feels very sad to see my neighbor’s Cane Corso. He’s not properly socialized and he’s got so much pent up energy. He’s a lovely boy who never growled at me, an outsider. When I play with him he’s constantly jumping and hoping to play through the gate and I just want to love him and help him spend all that

  19. Phase Variance on May 29, 2022 at 6:08 pm

It’s called "cane" like candy cane or walking cane. Not "conay".

We had a rottweiler for 9 years before she passed. I remember getting training done with her and was asked ‘what’s harder, am hour of taxes or an hour walk?’… I said taxes obviously…. the trainer said ‘exactly, the dog is no different and mental stimulation is more tiring for the dog’. Solid advice.

  25. Noman Gomes on May 29, 2022 at 6:19 pm

The questions here should be, is there any human on earth who is not more dangerous, more greedy more faithful, more loyal than this lovely dog.

  26. John Rowland on May 29, 2022 at 6:20 pm

  34. Kasey Shine on May 29, 2022 at 6:27 pm

How do I got by getting one

  35. 62guitarguy on May 29, 2022 at 6:27 pm

    I miss my Rotty…
my fear is these will get "popular" and wind up inbred or overbred. Beautiful animal. if I lived in the country I’d have a dozen of them, all named after Norse gods!

  36. ric gray on May 29, 2022 at 6:28 pm

I have a 18 month female that I got a month ago. She’s amazing and came very well trained. I have taken her to Golden Corral on Easter and she laid at my feet while we ate. She wouldn’t walk to the car without my old beagle male. She stops often when out shopping to wait for the rest of the family to get close. She comforted a toddler that fell just learning to walk. She doesn’t react to other dogs, even when they are threatening her. Bottom line from my experience as a dog owner for over 40 years this breed is perfect. It’s a weird feeling knowing she is capable of killing me in a fight but I can walk into a library and she walks slack leash at my side.

so if i have a cane corso and 3 cats and if im gone like 6-8hrs aday mon-fri will he start gaining aggression? (sometimes im home on 30 min brakes)

  45. Richard Malton on May 29, 2022 at 6:40 pm

Yes, they CAN be gentle, but unlike Poodles, Retrievers or Spaniels, they occasionally get put down for killing children.
