It’s so sad how many vets recommend Hills Science Diet. I wouldn’t touch that food with a 39.5 ft. pole…

I’ve been seeing videos about pet stores a lot on my journey of studying to prepare for ferrets and one of your videos was actually what promted me to look more deeply Into the way petshops work. Your videos have such great info in them and I’ve always admired your ability to cover almost all bases when your discussing a topic.

I work at a pet store and steer people away from Royal Canin and Blue Buffalo and other terrible brands all the time. I tell them corporations are the devil but that I just want to help their pet and make no profit for it. Thanks for the video, I can relay the info to customers!

I happily buy pet products imported from literally any country in Europe because I trust there are more safety standards there for pets than the US

I’ve been feeding my dogs Purina dog Chow for years not thinking to much about it bc that’s what my dad had always bought and said was good for them and I just read the ingredients list!! Will definitely be changing my dog food asap! Love all the helpful tips about pet stores. I’ll definitely be looking at labels more than I was before. Thank you!

I got my hamster in Germany in a pet shop. She was 3 or 4 months old and really healthy. I think most pet shops in Germany have much higher standerds than in the USA.

My dogs love greenies. I first found out about them a few years back when one of my dogs picked them out herself. They were being kept on a lower shelf and my dog ran over, stepped up on the shelf, and started sniffing at the bags. She had never done anything like that before, so I tried them out. Both of my dogs always went crazy any time they smelled them.

What breed of dog? My dog looks the exact same and I’ve never been able to find out what breed he is!

As you said with the bird toy. I have a cockatiel and we gave her a plastic toy…not knowing the harm. After 6 years of it she had to be put down.

    Pet store employee:
    Can confirm 1.
I WANT people to know 2. Unfortunately, most people don’t want to believe me.
Did not know 3, but we don’t have ferrets at my place nor do we intend to have one.
Can confirm 4. Can especially confirm customers refusing to acknowledge or admit it was their dog, too. "What?! My dog has NEVER peed inside!" "Ma’am, your dog is taking a piss on that shelf right now." "NEVER!!!!"
I WANT people to know 5!!
I WANT people to know 6!!!
I WANT people to know 7!!!!!

I have a pet chameleon. Did you know that pet stores usually only sell male chameleons because they are the most colorful and attract more customers?

  27. slaytheday on January 19, 2023 at 3:01 am

I got my pet hamster from petco who I named nugget, he was my best friend and we had a bond like no other sadly he developed apcess in his body so we got it removed and he was ok but sadly he only lived for a few more months. He had cancer and I blame that on the pet store I’m sure he had it before I bought him but it wasn’t as noticeable I say get your pet from rescue or somewhere else but a pet store no hate to petco but I do think they should get there animals from somewhere else ,take better care of them, and give the right information.

  28. Rey on January 19, 2023 at 3:01 am

I’ve worked at Petco for 3 years, I’ve seen some pretty bad things and yes sometimes mice and hamsters will eat each other especially after one is dead. For me seeing dead or sick pets isn’t something that is often for me. The thing that stood out to me in this video was Secret number 4. I’ve cleaned up a lot of messes over the years and I offer to clean it up or sometimes people ask my assistance especially if their dog is being difficult to handle. Most of the messes I’ve cleaned up are because people leave them and don’t bother telling anyone. I cleaned up 5 pee puddles and one scattered poop stains in an hour and a half (3 of which needed a mop) one morning. Granted it was vet day and a lot of pets were anxious and accidents do happen, but if your pet pees or poops please either let someone know and ask for assistance if you need help or clean it up yourself. If you dog poops please clean the mess up fully. Don’t pick up the pieces and leave stains. Aside of that I’ve had to clean up throw up and blood from pets and people. I worked at PetSmart for a year. I was off of my shift and I was waiting for my friend to get some free time at Banfield. This guy brings in his golden retriever and the receptionist asked him if he knew his dog was bleeding. The guy said yes he knew, checked the dog in, then walked out. It was a long line of blood that I cleaned up in front of the counter while the Banfield cleaned it up behind the counter…

I was looking for a reputable rabbit breeder to get a rabbit from, and I found this one breeder that lives a lot farther up State. I called and I asked if they had any available rabbits and they turned out to be a breeder of like 200+ rabbits and that they were dropping some rabbits off at a pet store, and I just hung up like nope nope nope nope

  33. PrincessCelestia19 on January 19, 2023 at 3:06 am

Literally Nylabone is the only thing that can stand the strength of my power chewer dogs. I don’t trust anything else to be strong enough. I wouldnt recommended the edible Nylabones though and I also wouldn’t recommend the nonedibles unless you have a very destructive chewer.

I got a female Marshalls Ferret from a Petco years ago. I had to take her to the vet when she was peeing blood (she had her period) she was supposedly spayed before I got her. My vet had to do surgery and when she went in she found a foreign object inside her! Firstly she said only part of whatever should have been removed was actually removed and it turns out the foreign object she found was a bead! Like from a necklace or bracelet! How does that happen??

  35. kaiyodei on January 19, 2023 at 3:09 am

Tuna Water is used to encourage cats that are dehydrated to drink water because it tastes like a fish.

  40. richie mackintyre on January 19, 2023 at 3:18 am

I knew somebody who tried to run a puppy finder service were he would get the dogs under contract for spay and neuter. The problem was that most people wanted didn’t want to pay that premium, and people who buy from breeders most likely want to breed themselves
