I have to say it. I don’t think you should ask first to pet a service dog. Ypu should ask first to pet ANY dog. Service dog, pupper, old dog. Any dog really, that isn’t yours or like your best friends dog you know very well.

  2. karlman18 on September 21, 2022 at 8:49 am

I wouldn’t pet her, I would just tell you that she’s pretty <3

  3. Purple Hearts on September 21, 2022 at 8:50 am

This is the parents fault!! Watch your kids people!!

  4. Koshkovitz on September 21, 2022 at 8:54 am

what is your disability? I mean, why do you need a service dog?

  5. rylynnisshikamaruswife on September 21, 2022 at 8:54 am

I’ve always been taught to never touch a service animal unless you have permission. I’ve never asked though because I don’t want to distract the animal. I’ve always taught my little brothers to never touch them.

  6. Demani on September 21, 2022 at 8:54 am

Service dog or not always ask for permission to pet it

  7. Ełi on September 21, 2022 at 8:54 am

That bugs me so much when people don’t ask to pet your pets!

  8. okay now what on September 21, 2022 at 8:55 am

come on it‘s a child she/he still has a lot to learn

  9. Avari222 on September 21, 2022 at 8:58 am

That is so disrespectful, you should always ask to pet a service dog! They are constantly at work and trying to keep their owners safe! Especially with blind people with service dogs, they can’t get around when you are petting their dog!

  10. Maddy Britton on September 21, 2022 at 8:58 am

I def feel like even normal dogs that aren’t service dogs need to ask for permission to pet. No matter the situation bc you never know if a dog could be aggressive towards you. Always a good thing to ask first before you pet

  11. Deonta Johnson on September 21, 2022 at 8:58 am

This is stupid maybe you should stop the kid before she tries and let her know it’s a service dog

  12. Rob on September 21, 2022 at 8:59 am

I have had SDs for quite awhile now and I never let anyone, even after asking nicely, to pet my dog. It may depend on the condition they alert to, but I just think its a bad habit for the handler and dog to pick up. Just my .02

  13. Jellywith.freaks on September 21, 2022 at 8:59 am

I have a service dog and I can’t deal with how much harassment he gets not to mention I have major anxiety so I’m always 2 scared to say anything-

  14. Shyla Owen on September 21, 2022 at 9:01 am

I have never petted a service dog but before I pet any dog I always ask the owners bc one time I was with my friend and we were like 8 and she didnt ask and went to pet the dog and the dog tried to bite her hand later when my friends mom had talked to the owner the dog had been thru some past trauma and my friend had startled her

  15. Thunder Blossom on September 21, 2022 at 9:04 am

I usually just observe the service dogs. I remember a black lab named Charcoal. So sweet. I can’t remember where i was in the store, but I remember him leaning a bit towards me. I think he smelled my dog. Still didn’t pet

  16. ♡︎ Uɴɪᴠᴇʀsᴀʟ_ᴄᴀᴛ ♡︎ on September 21, 2022 at 9:05 am

Can we even pet service dogs? Even if we ask?

  17. Laura Hanks on September 21, 2022 at 9:07 am

I always ask for permission before petting dogs. Unless they’re service dogs. Then I don’t pet them at all because the Vest CLEARLY says do not pet.

  18. Nalah Vargas on September 21, 2022 at 9:10 am

Why does every single dog have the same name as me???

    Just look as my user

  19. W. M. on September 21, 2022 at 9:11 am

Always ask, regardless if it’s a service dog or not. Ask, or at least wait for the animal to come to you. Don’t go up to them.

  20. Loki the Assistance Dog on September 21, 2022 at 9:12 am

My dog is the same. Unless I give permission, my AD will avoid hands if possible, and look at me for direction.

  21. Kelly Michel on September 21, 2022 at 9:13 am

I think you should always ask for permission to pet any dog service dog or not. It’s polite and you don’t know the dog. Just because the owner has them out in public doesn’t mean it’s a friendly animal. That’s just how I was raised. Show some respect people

  22. Chigibi on September 21, 2022 at 9:15 am

not only ask to pet/touch a service dog, ask to pet for every animal/dog

  23. My melody on September 21, 2022 at 9:17 am

She’s a kid and probably didn’t know or realize that Napa was a service dog

  24. Jelly Twix bar on September 21, 2022 at 9:18 am

Kids are the most thing that would do that

  25. Hussain on September 21, 2022 at 9:19 am

I hate that its just because a lot of parents hate animals or just don’t like them so they don’t talk much to their kids about them like what they should or should not do , just annoying and especially when some parents think people are rude because they didn’t want their kids to just randomly pet people’s dogs or pets in general without asking

  26. pearlspiper on September 21, 2022 at 9:19 am

    Never distract a service dog

  27. Raw Zurkkzz on September 21, 2022 at 9:22 am

people need to teach their kids and eachother that we should respect service dogs while on duty and we shouldn’t he selfish and try petting the working service dog

  28. Alexander S on September 21, 2022 at 9:23 am

Kids who go up to service dogs should be punished severely to the fullest extent of the law. They deserve what is coming to them…. Pain

  29. Maria Gricius on September 21, 2022 at 9:23 am

I don’t have a service dog and I can’t stand people walking right up to my dog and petting him.. My dog is dog reactive. So when someone brings their dog by on a leash, they think it’s OK that our dogs mingle because their dogs love other dogs. Well, mine doesn’t, he is controlled on a leash and people need to keep their dogs away from me. I’m fine with him being dog reactive. He is perfect in every other way.
So yeah, I get you. It’s a possibile liability as well if something happened.

to the trolls commenting without reading my description first ! i have no problem with people wanting to pet my service dog! This video shows YOU that my SD was not comfortable with the child’s approach and went immediately to my side ..

  31. linda field on September 21, 2022 at 9:25 am

    Agreed

  32. Kenna C on September 21, 2022 at 9:25 am

i just use the general rule to not even ask to pet a service dog bc i wouldn’t want to distract them even if most owners are perfectly fine with it

  33. Lonley_pikachu on September 21, 2022 at 9:27 am

You should always ask to pet a dog since some of them can be scared of children and bite you out of fear or are over exited (this happened to me once) and if it’s a big dog maybe knock you over and you can possibly hit your head on a rock :] so always ask

  34. Howling Waters on September 21, 2022 at 9:28 am

NALA may have sensed the youth and relative ignorance and simply moved toward handler. That shows excellent training and temperament.
Oh, the horror shows in the Big Box stores with the high-drive breeds, most recently, the "Mal-ligator".

  35. LoveruLima on September 21, 2022 at 9:29 am

Honestly, even tho my dog loves getting petted, it still means you still have to ask to pet a dog. I was walking my dog and 3 kids ran up to me and they had a pit bull and they asked nicely if they could pet my dog, the obvious answer was yes.

  36. chloe adams on September 21, 2022 at 9:29 am

i don’t ask to pet service dogs because i don’t want to pet them if they’re on duty

  37. john johnson on September 21, 2022 at 9:30 am

I see parents stand back and watch kids run up to pet strange animals. It’s almost like there waiting for the dog to bite them so they can get money or something. I truly never will understand people in today’s society.

  38. Troy Wahi on September 21, 2022 at 9:32 am

I always ask to pet a dog before I pet it

  39. Charlotte Reneau on September 21, 2022 at 9:34 am

Ima say this again keep ya fricking hands to your self

  40. Lily Pendergast on September 21, 2022 at 9:35 am

You should always ask to pet any dog but you probably shouldn’t pet service dogs their working hard

  41. Melissa Weigh on September 21, 2022 at 9:37 am

Always ask to pet any dog! I had a cousin who came to visit and she hasn’t met the new German shep. Well the kids were outside which is why she reacted that way she did but she just walked up to her and reached for her and she snapped a bit at her. Growling wasn’t enough. She was told to let me know when coming. She was very protective of me and the kids.

  42. Jealous of the Angels on September 21, 2022 at 9:39 am

I ask before I pet ANY dog, yes its respectful but it’s a mostly safety thing.

  43. ShaggyGabe on September 21, 2022 at 9:42 am

The girl looks like she’s 6-7 years old. At that age, you should already know to ask before you pet a service dog.

  44. L. B on September 21, 2022 at 9:46 am

I was always taught not to pet a service dog when their working because they need to focus. That’s what I teach my son as well

  45. Niki Carrie on September 21, 2022 at 9:47 am

I ignore this entire situation every time.

  46. Elizabeth J Masterson on September 21, 2022 at 9:47 am
