Brooklyn's Story – STARVING Dog's AMAZING Recovery!

Female | Age unknown | Medium energy | Good with dogs (but likes to be top dog) | Fine with kids | Not tested with cats but doesn’t seem to mind the ones at the shelter | Sweetheart

Meet the BIGGEST sweetheart, Brooklyn! She’s a shy lady at first, and she’s working on coming out of her shell. But don’t be fooled by her unsure greeting because THE SECOND she decides she likes you she’ll be in your lap every chance she gets. She knows some basic commands (like sit) and is a HUGE fan of rolling around in the grass. She’s an AMAZING walker on leash-no pulling at all for this lady! Food is her best friend, she will do anything for it, so training will be a breeze. She will occasionally bark at other dogs in the shelter, but only when they start barking first, and we see nothing to give us any concern. She hasn’t been tested with cats yet, but she ignores the ones she sees at the shelter, which is a good sign! She’s been absolutely fine with the kids she has met.

Her shyness probably comes from the fact that she was found emaciated and near-death in Sam Houston National Forest. The hikers that found her brought her to Special Pals, where she’s been recuperating, gaining back the weight she had lost, and building up her confidence. She’s been at Special Pals now for a year and a half, and she’s more than ready to find her forever home! Will you give this shy sweetheart the chance she deserves?
