At the Anderson Silva vs. Uriah Hall post-fight press conference, UFC President Dana White announced UFC middleweight champion Israel Adesanya’s next fight will be at light heavyweight against the existing champion Jan Blachowicz.

Izzy could actually defend both titles if he has fights like he has been. He is very active and a lot of champs only fight once a year so it’s not unreasonable for him.

Im a fan of Izzy but I honestly don’t think this move up is going to be easy. His entire style relies on having a reach advantage, and a muscle-mass disadvantage to piss off his opponents and make them dangerously over-confident… LHW’s are monsters, the only time he faced people who were even close to his height or taller was against Kickboxers where skill still defines everything but this is MMA… Jan is a beast, he needs to be very respectful of him in order to beat him.

Izzy is definitely going to look small. I don’t see him bulking up past 220, and Jan is Walking around at 230-240. Izzy could pull it off, but he’s probably going to be in for the fight of his life.

Let’s get real here. If Izzy beats Jan, Jon is coming right back to get ‘his’ belt from Izzy. This would be basically like Ali – Frazier I where both fighters were undefeated and no one had lost the belt in the ring.
