Thanks for mentioning that this has helped with her allergies. I have an pittie mix who’s been on Apoquel year-round and gets very itchy and loses her fur in March of each year. I know she’s allergic to chicken and think she’s also allergic to grass, so I was looking for a shirt tutorial (last two I ordered didn’t fit her!) to help her out.

Our family dog looks a lot like your baby. And about the same size. Do you mind me asking what size you used to make the doggy hoodie?

I have a 10 year old pitbull who’s had year-round severe allergies all his life. A few years ago I started him on citopoint…a shot every 3 months…and the itching is gone. It isn’t a steroid just suppresses the urge to itch and I can’t believe I didn’t know about it sooner. Give it a go! Its a bit pricey…about $620 a year ($155-ish every 3 months) but my boy’s quality of life is MUCH much better.

I have the same size dog but my dog is a boy. So how would I make him a sweater so he doesn’t pee on it . The sweater you made would be to long. Any advice???

If you haven’t already, ask your vet about CAD (Cytopoint) injections for her allergies. might be expensive for her size but if it stops the itch then it’s worth it. it should last about 1 month but with some dogs it lasts a lot longer. you can also give her Benadryl (about 1mg per Lbs.)

First off, THANK YOU. I’ve been scouring the internet for hours and hours trying to find anything for my baby girl. She’s my gorgeous hippo/land seal/manatee/blue nose pit. She’s my daughter and it hurts my heart that I cannot provide her with clothing which she LOVES. It’s not because I love her in clothes, she literally asks me to put clothes on her. How am I supposed to find clothing, when everything is for small dogs, overly expensive (I don’t even spend that much on my clothing) and basically impossible to find. So I thought, I’m a sewer, why don’t I just sew her clothing. I have no clue where to start. No patterns for a dog her size, patterns can be very expensive, and I’ve never sewn clothing for a dog before so I don’t know what to do even. That’s been my struggle. I’m at a point where I’ll bite the bullet, order something super cheap that fits her, cut it up and use it as a pattern. Then my sister in law actually recommended your channel and you’ve helped me get started on the process. So thank you!!! Also, my girls armpits, inguinal area and ears are ALWAYS itchy. It’s a pitbull thing. Poor babies, some days she’s just a walking scab. Horrible. Not even allergy meds touch it. Tried cytopoint and everything else. I’ve always thought if she wore more clothing, that could at least stop her from scratching and licking. Even pjs at night would help a lot. So, Lea and I thank you! And what a beautiful baby girl you have❤️
    (Sorry this was so long)

LOL, I have the same dog as you with 43 allergies! I work 2 jobs to keep him going! thank you for sharing I gotta do that for him I can’t afford the sweaters and shirts they sell on amazon and Petco and they are always too small for him.

  22. Cheeba K on June 19, 2022 at 3:44 am

She does not look like a Pit Bull to me. I think could be a Staffordshire Terrier and Mastiff Mix. She’s too large and bulky for a Pit Bull.

  23. Hailey Pestell on June 19, 2022 at 3:45 am

My boy has blue in his coat and gets itchy too, its a gene mutation in blue coats. Feeding him sardines, at vet advice, helps a lot. I give him a tin of sardines in water every day.

Bully breed issues! Need a bully line… the struggle is real!

  26. Jennifer Herriger on June 19, 2022 at 3:47 am

I would take the string out of the hood, cut a small hole at the bottom, and put it through the waist band so you can tie it up where it’s a bit saggy. But overall good hack.

  29. laughing Hawk on June 19, 2022 at 3:54 am

Another DIY hack for dogs is stop wasting money on expensive dog beds and use old pillow and cushion batting and an old sofa seat cover to make a bed or anything of the sort. Thrift shop come in real handy.
