DOCS: There’s A Polar Bear In My Pool!

WHILE most people would be terrified to find a bear in their backyard there are others who couldn’t live without it. Three such characters will be featured in a brand new Barcroft Original Documentary, ‘There’s a Polar Bear in My Pool,’ about those who live with the world’s largest land predators. From a family who train the huge animals for the movies to a couple of surfing cubs, this exclusive documentary will show exactly what it is like to have a bear in your back yard.

Amazingly, in Canada’s British Columbia, bear trainer Marc Dumas swims and wrestles with an 800lb polar bear named Aggy. But not all of the pet bears are quite so fearsome – take Carl Bovard’s two baby bears Bruiser and Honey who love nothing more than to swim and surf in the garden of his Florida home. Meanwhile, Johnny Welde and his family raise and wrestle 13 of the huge mammals from their Florida home with some weighing a staggering 900lbs and standing at 8ft tall.

I am with you. Captivity is better than the wild, unfortunately. People are critics and destroy the world, so who cares when they voice t immature opinions. Not sure why humans think they know best for animals when we are the ones killing and destroying all.

How can the gentleman in Melrose, Florida afford to pay for everything? The big cart of meat for lunch (everday) looks awfully expensive. And the startup costs for his cage setups had to be astronomical.

With any medical issues, a specialized vet would have to be brought in and anesthetics would be needed. Vets ain’t cheap.

    Insurance, permits, etc.

7-day-a-week job, no vacations. Animals like this usually bond with only one or two humans. You must be there.

The rewards are high, but seems like a near impossible task.

These people have no fear. Do they not realize that their pets could rip them apart at any momebt

  22. Jodie K on June 10, 2022 at 8:12 pm

i dont know much about bear i just dont understand how you can claim to love them but keep them in captivity. i get if they were raised in captivity you cant just put them out into the wild its dangerous for them but these people seem to have had these bears from cubs i just think its unfair on the bear. one thing i will say at-least these people respect the fact they are wild, a-lot of people who keep wild animals seems to think that the animals have imprinted on them, so therefor they think they’re domesticated and are ignorant to the fact they are still WILD ANIMALS

Has anybody heard about the new Netflix Documentary that is being made about Polar bears? Netflix will be changing the WHITE polar bears to instead be "black bears" for diversity reasons. Even this is in no way historically, nor scientifically, accurate, I think this is good and progressive because even though all the bears in the Arctic are white, these native Arctic white bears had enough screen time in the past and we need more diversity from the arctic region of Earth. It’s time for the Arctic to make the conscious decision to be on the correct side of history and STOP making any films with any straight white bears in it…..The less straight white bears we see on film means there is MORE diversity in film….. and that makes films better, and more inclusive, for us all.

  38. Dianna Oliver on June 10, 2022 at 8:27 pm

So wrong to make these bears human entertainment. They belong in the wilderness where they can thrive. Once a bear becomes a "problem" we have all seen the outcome. The bear pays with its life. Shame on these people for making these bears perform on behalf of the humans. We have all seen circus anals and their horrific treatment and this isn’t any better. Bears BELONG in the wild and not in your home!!

its always morons who try to take a Apex Predator and try to treat them like pets and end up getting mawl or worse dead. Why cant people leave these creatures alone in the wild. And yes I understand conservation and love for all Gods creatures but stop treating them as pets and respect them for what they really are Predators.
