It should also be noted that home groomers can write off their household expenses when doing their yearly taxes.

Thank you ❤beautiful and kind and smart lady. I learned so much from you.
Great video. Can you please discuss grooming for terriers. Focusing on the skill of stripping. Thank you.
Do you have a recommendation for a school to attend? I have a Sheepadoodle (85lbs), I have been grooming him since we brought him home two years ago. I am looking into the CC Coral Brush, glad to hear you said it is worth it.
You just called my name in the beginning of your video, or is your name also Vanessa?
You are so smart and funny and this video is just what i needed. Thank you so much. The funniest thing you’ve done is the "Girl becomes the dogs" OMG. The Doodle part at the end is so true. I call my doodle The Labra-Devil. But love him to pieces like you love Ace. Many thanks again. Shelley
My wife says that finding a good groomer is like finding a good personal hair dresser.
She needs to trust that the groomer is doing a good job, our dog looks good and is happy after the groom, and accommodates his health issues as he is a senior.
We had a grooming salon that we went to for several years, and we were happy. One day, a new person sent our boy on his way with a different owner: the dog were not the same color, age or even sex. While we didn’t raise a fuss as our dog was returned to the salon within ten minutes, that trust was broken and we had to search for a new groomer.
Is there a video about your pack? I would love to see that!
this has nothing to do with anything but your fit in this video is so fire! (also very informative and well-structured video)
I have a rough collie and I live in Los Angeles so you think it’d be easy to find a good groomer. NOPE. Seems like all groomers know how to work on little dogs but give them a double coated large dog and they just don’t know what to do, I’ve had groomers SHAVE my beautiful adult collie because she had some mats in her mane, (NOT her entire body and her top coat was essentially perfect) Then another groomer didn’t get all the shampoo out of her thick coat. Then recently at a totally different groomer, I took my 10 week old rough collie puppy, who I was just trying to get her used to going to the groomer. I told them I just wanted a simple bath and brush out, no cutting. She didn"t even have a full coat yet. And this person ALSO trimmed the beautiful top coat of my dog. He said she was matted–she’s a puppy! I guarantee she wasn’t matted. So now, I am waiting for my puppy’s coat to grow back,. It’s worth noting that all of these shops were long-standing, higher-end priced groomers. I’m too scared to go to a cheap place. I’m thinking next time I might try a home groomer, price isn’t really an issue after the bad experiences I’ve had.
I don’t even know what to do at this point. I wish there was a "Big Double Coated Dog Grooming Shop" But so far I haven’t found anything like that.
you’re amazing
Hi, I’m really enjoying your videos! I do have a question as a pet owner. What would be a good tip at the end of the grooming? I bring in two dogs. A bichon/poodle who is super chill and an aussie mix which I know takes a lot of work with that coat. Currently, I’m giving my groomer $20. She’s not a home groomer, it’s part of a Pet Valu, which is why I want to be sure to tip her properly.
I dropped out of beauty college too. Had to move out of state. I love doing hair but like you didn’t like working with the public. I have a shorkie. I watch on YouTube My Favorite Groomer and Rovers Makeover. I groom my dog and love doing it. She’s very easy going and will let you do anything to her. I’m 74 so don’t want to do this full time.
This is all fantastic advice for any entrepreneur. Love watching your videos before I go to sleep! ❤
You are amazing! What an inspiration.
I’m just started thinking of becoming one! Thank you!
For me I am doing the onling grooming school process. It is almost $2,000 in American US currency. For this it asks me to work on a friennd’s dog so I have experience with a different dog than my own. They mail me a set of grooming supplies at the third unit including 3 pairs of grooming scissors, brushes, combs, a clipper as well as clipper attachments and nail clippers
Stay away from corporate grooming..yes they will pay for your training ..BUT…after the training and during the training you wont make enough money to live from and will still have to work 40 to 50 hrs a week..and you have to pay them back for the training…hence the contract you have to sign to work for them…if you decide that you want to quit before the contract is over you are on the HOOK for the money that they paid to train you…..STAY AWAY from THIS !!
YOU ARE A GEM!! OPEN AND HONEST!!
What you said is so similar to what I went through as a trainer. Enjoyed it very much. Very generous of you to share this.
The whole under woking for cheep goes for anything in running your own Business. It’s good advice. You get what you pay for!
Typ7cal female. Takes 39 minutes to answer a question
Thank you very much for this information. On many points, you are right on. I am a new groomer. Want to do it on my own but I did spend time in three different grooming shops over the course of a year and a half. I just got my certificate through online professional grooming school. You are correct, it is very expensive, but I feel the best way to go. Certification is not required but I think it speaks to the pet parent that you know your stuff and also they cover everything and have the top experts at your fingertips. I was very pleased and thought it was worth the money. I got into pet grooming later in life, but I love it. Plan to have it as a supplemental income.
Where do you get your dryers? What kinds of soaps do you use?
Thank you for making this! This is invaluable!!!
Please don’t feel guilty for your decisions about difficult dogs, you seem a wonderful, caring person that the world needs more of. I’m sure your partner if a great support, you are a real highlight to my day, just the funny comments relax me, keep up the great work.
These are fantastic advices for EVERY business….!
You need to open a grooming school.
Oh my god- her voice- a million stars. Sorry if I sound rude but I love her voice, I swear-
That moment when you don’t want to be a groomer (not because it’s a bad job or anything, I just chose another profession and am currently studying), but you watch this video 😀 I love people who know what they do, it’s so inspiring. I hope one day I can be that person who talks about their work with the same knowledge and love :3
I get it top quality equipment
Not even considering becoming a pet groomer, but this video was still incredibly informative and engaging. So many tips apply to freelance work as well. (Even though I work for a company, I’ve always been and still am tempted to go freelance.) Really appreciate all the honesty and the great tips!
(Also love the regular pet grooming videos, even though I’m not a pet owner!)
isnt it better to invest in a large pet size microwave to dry to pets?
This is such a good video about starting up not only a pet grooming but any small buisness. You brought up so many good points that I do right as a crafter but don’t really think about that I do. Thank you so much for very good content. I love your videos so much
this is really great advice. thank you ❤❤
I love how you didn’t edit out the parts that show your personality , you had me rolling on #4

I love how this tipps goes well for all kind of selfemployed jobs! I am an artist and everything is just similar! Like you can be an expert if selftaugt, don’t underprice yourself, use the good equipment, etc!
What Chris Christensen brush do you “swear” by? You mentioned it in this video.
