How to Make Dog Food for Dachshunds

How to Make Dog Food for Dachshunds

This is how we make homemade Dog food for our dachshunds “Stella and Merlot” They usually would have kibbles / fish for their Morning meal and the homemade food with boiled brown rice and maybe chicken feet or chicken backbone for their Evening meal.

For this video we are using Organic Grass Fed Beef and Organic Vegetables and fresh wheatgrass along with Supplements such as Spirulina and Glucosamine, Barley Grass and Coconut Oil etc, total cost of around 20$SG.

Obviously the ingredients can be changed to other meats and vegetables etc, and this can make the total cost a lot lower, often cheaper than most commercial pet food.

Thanks for watching.

Hello, friend. I watched your video about preparing the food and I really like it! The reason I watched is because I am looking for ways to prevent my mini daschund from the worst of their problems – herniation disc, causing paralysis, inability to defecate, and inability to urinate.I wish you could give me some advises how to prevent if its possible this disease when its still hasn’t happened!

Stella n merlot are not on any frontline drip etc. the secret to a flea n mite free dog is just a teaspoon of apple cider vinegar in their daily food. To prevent or kill heartworm, they are given half a capsule each of this herb (ironically ca

Darks not Dash Hounds. This breed can be a fussy but voracious eater.

Hi gracieflix, you can add raw organ meat but it has to be rinsed under water as organs carry more debris. I like to feed them chicken gizzard which I pack n freeze separately. It’s a nice chew for them

  9. Stella Merlot on October 12, 2019 at 12:06 am

Quality of meat, grass fed beef or hormone free chicken. If it gets too expensive, u can jus use regular meat fr butchers.

"use any vegetables you wish"… that is of course assuming that said vegetables are actually safe for your dog to consume!

  12. Paul maximus on October 12, 2019 at 12:12 am

Not a great diet for a dog, keep the meat, add sum bones and organ meat, lose all the veg u just need the tiniest amount,a teaspoon is enough, your heart is in the right place but u have got it all wrong, and lose the suppliments, dogs are carnivores and want to chew meat and bones, they dont want mush.

  13. Golden Gray on October 12, 2019 at 12:12 am

Why are there so many vegetables? Surely a wide variety of raw meats, organs, and small bones would be enough? Dogs are facultative carnivores

  14. Rainbow Lorikeet Brisbane Queensland Australia on October 12, 2019 at 12:15 am

Again no offence but I also believe you need to feed each dog at least twice a day yes the back bone of the short haired dachshund is showing. Both dogs are terribly under weight if you shaved the hair from the long haired dog I am sure the backbone would also be showing. Great recipe though. Please feed your dogs more.

  16. Jane Burgess on October 12, 2019 at 12:18 am

Thanks, this is great, are your dogs only raw fed? They look great! What do you use if no bones? By griffon can’t digest raw bones like my other dog. Calcium supplements?

  24. Maria Kallunki on October 12, 2019 at 12:33 am

How do you provide them calcium, vitamin A, vitamin D, zinc etc? They are essential.

  25. Beverly Blair on October 12, 2019 at 12:34 am

what are the exact feeding instructions?  I don’t know the measurement of a "scoop" nor how much your dogs weigh.  I have 7 dogs ranging from 9 – 50 lbs so I’m trying to calculate how much for each dog. Thanks!

  26. Stella Merlot on October 12, 2019 at 12:34 am

To prevent n kill heartworm, they r given herb called wormwood. Comes in capsules or liquid form. Dose is 3 days every mth. Also given colloidal silver in their water once a week.

  27. Sharon Serrano on October 12, 2019 at 12:36 am

  28. cHeStEr5434 on October 12, 2019 at 12:38 am

My friend had a Miniature Long-haired Dachshund named Merlin who lived for 19 years. He had a similar diet to this.

  29. Jude on October 12, 2019 at 12:39 am

I have a dachshund also. Would this dog food be good for my other dog? She is a shepherd mix.

  35. SAMMY’S WORLD on October 12, 2019 at 12:45 am

This vid was like 4 yrs ago… why you’d stop? Should make more like this, was excellent & enjoyed very much. Concept of feeding dog’s raw diet is still very new & controversial. I had a mini that passed recently from heart disease @ 14 yrs old & believe she would have thrived & lived longer on this kind of diet. Don’t believe the vets when they argue feeding dogs raw diet I believe it’s one of the best diets if one have the time & money to do it. So thank you for sharing this.

  36. Shiny on October 12, 2019 at 12:45 am

I thought dogs couldn’t have broccoli?

  37. J F on October 12, 2019 at 12:46 am

Do not switch back and forth between raw and hard food like that constantly. Not good for their digestive tracts at all. Making food like this does not mean it is healthier esp when you could are missing nutrients that you are not accounting for and not knowing calorie counts and exact amounts of ingredients, vitamins, etc. Not to mention raw is terrible for their teeth. Whoever has this much time on their hands for dogs, wow. Research a good food from a company that has real experience and research in the making of food before this

  38. GO L.A RAMS on October 12, 2019 at 12:46 am

    Feed them!!!!

  39. Clorox Bleach on October 12, 2019 at 12:46 am

Wouldn’t feeding the same food everyday to a dog be unhealthy ?

  40. MpP on October 12, 2019 at 12:47 am

Does that food make them so well behaved? If so, I’m doing it!!

  41. Dora saldarriaga on October 12, 2019 at 12:47 am

  46. rebeccaab0219 on October 12, 2019 at 12:56 am

Are your dachshunds miniature? I have two mini dachshunds and I was thinking of making this for them to try, and I was just wondering if those portions were for minis or standards. They are both very picky eaters. I’ve always been worried about giving them raw meat, but your dogs look so healthy!
