The notes and resources mentioned in this video:

1:30 What is Made To Order?: Also known as print on demand or “dropshipping” this process allows you to focus on the design and marketing of your brand, and you only pay for the products once they are sold. It’s a great way to start a clothing line as it costs you no money up front. Best of all a fulfillment partner such as Apliiq does all the shipping for you.

3:11 Direct To Garment Printing: Also known as DTG, is a method of printing that allows you to print in full color, without the extra cost normally associated with screen printing. DTG allows you to create multiple samples and products quickly and efficiently.

6:12 Creating Branded Labels: labeling apparel allows you to fully customize your blank t-shirts, so your customers will think you made it all from scratch. Labeling allows you to fully brand your apparel line and make it your own.

8:05 What is Embroidery?: Embroidery give your product an enhanced touch and is great for fleece, hats, jackets and much more. The key to embroidery is in creating sharp vector graphics as the design is created by stitching thread through a garment.

9:27 Fulfillment/ Shipping: A fulfillment company does all the shipping for you. They are responsible for ensuring that your orders are shipped to your customers, all while ensuring that your customers never know someone else handled it for you. They provide poly bags to protect your products, shipping labels and packing slips.

13:20 Collection Planning: The key to starting a clothing line with $0 dollars is to design a brand for eCommerce. Selling directly to your customers allow you to launch with as little as 3-5 designs vs having to create multiple styles, line sheets and samples to sell to retailers.

  2. Hi John. I watched your video and enjoyed it. I’m considering doing T-shirts for kids here in Australia. My understanding of selling is you get your product and put your mark up on, say 100%, of the wholesale cost. A lot of the T-shirt printers here that I’ve looked are want to charge me AUD$20 and up to make up a T-shirt. How am I meant to make a profit on that?? No-one will pay more than that for a kid’s T-shirt. What is a reasonable amount to pay to have your kid’s T-shirt printed and then sell for?

  3. If ya’ll are struggling financially and still wanna make a brand, you can start by doing pod. It costs 0 dollars and has good results if you find a niche and market on social media well.

  4. Please my brother can I have your email if you don’t mind please. I will like to have a conversation with you please

  5. Hi.. I’m a bit confused.. so when you start the brand. You dont own the actual equipment.. ? Who owns the printing equipment. Die revive brand co owns their printing equipment?

  6. I`m nice to write to you &I`m happy from your perfect and extra content which you make it and I would like to take some tips from you.
1-Is the Teespring site reliable and safe, and the profit from it is real and reliable for the purpose of earning and profiting from it as a source of income for individuals?
2-Are on-demand printing websites secure, highly reliable, and can be taken as a primary source of income?
3-Does all of the above – really give money and payments to designers and send them to their different e-wallets, whether it is Paypal or Pioneer …. Do they really send money and profits to the wallets?
Please respond quickly because I`m want to work in this site but still worry from print on demand sites&thank you for all.

  7. Don’t use apliiq!!!! OR Atleast don’t sign up any time soon, they are an example of a company that bit off more than they could chew. We started our clothing line with them and launched june 19th, several orders were made on that day and they haven’t even started making our clothing to ship out yet. We had to email them to get them to send us mock ups of the shirts just last week. It is now July 11th and the estimated time of delivery was july 13th, it has now been pushed back to july 23rd and its extremely frustrating because they are advertising like they are a trust worthy drop shipping company and are ruining businesses reputation with their customers. We have already covered for them and stated things would be delayed and everyone should have their clothing by the 13th. They Charge us $11.99- $26.00 per shirt with direct to garment printing on front and back plus $5 shipping and are not fulfilling orders in a timely manner. We have about 16 unfulfilled orders at this point so its not too much or anything that would take more than a day to do. We were sent an email stating that things would be behind due to the curfew in LA. Also that they needed to expand because of the volume of orders and customers, but it’s like, why wait until now? You are actively advertising on youtube and many platforms, this video alone has a million views what did you expect? Why didn’t you expect for your company to need more space, employees, equipment from the jump? Especially with drop shipping and e-commerce expanding rapidly everyday. We have to now put more money into getting our shirts printed locally as well as having to pay apliiq per order. Its just not something any new business owners need to go through and i pray we get through this situation.

  14. Wow John what a very informative video! Thank you for this knowledge. Question- So I just built my shopify before I watched this, and I want to be able to do more trendy Woman’s clothing. But as a problem that I am facing is, I am dropshipping the clothes from some Chinese supplier, as all the cute clothes with the high quality images are offered only by the Chinese websites. I am only scared to launch it because the shipping time is going to take forever and I won’t have my label on it. So Question is, do you guys offer this same model with fashion trendy woman’s clothes? Or any advice to me trying to start a clothing business that is more trendy woman’s dresses etc. with not much money to play with? Perhaps you might know someone with a USA warehouse doing what you do for trendy clothes? Please any advice will be much appreciated. I will also consider this route but I would have no idea what to put on t shirts.
