KID RUNS UP TO SERVICE DOG 🛑 No! (READ DESCRIPTION)
KID RUNS UP TO SERVICE DOG 🛑 No! (READ DESCRIPTION)
Went on a training session today. I like to bring treats out when I know weâre going to train so I can reinforce good behavior.
We were at an outlet mall. They have an off leash dog park (we learned about after but did not use), and are pet friendly outside the shops and restaurants.
Itâs not often we get to be around live music. So I wanted to get close and work on confidence building and focusing in high distraction environments. There were a lot of pet dogs around too.
Get up to the stage, sheâs a bit unsure/unfocused. Work through that. Had a friend stop and say hi.
Then, had a little boy come up out of no where.
Now personally, I donât ever just allow an interaction. I always stop the child, tell them no. Move Mya behind me. And you can kind of hear me tell the boy not to go up to dogs he doesnât know because not all dogs are nice and he could get bit. Etc. If the parents arenât going to teach their children, I will. And I have no idea where the kids parents were.
The boy seemed to have his own potential mental/learning issues. Iâm not sure what. But taking that into mind, after the corrections i gave him. I asked if he would like to help make her spin.
Now Mya loooooooves kids. So youâll see a bit of that excitement. She licks his hands.
So after a moment, I was kind of ready for the boy to go, so I just kind of stood there and starting asking Mya for continuous focus.
This was a pretty good training session. She had a boy she didnât know waving his hand over her head and face. He then grabbed her handle. And she did good.
I would like to train around live music more. But considering the amount of chaos that was around us. I was very proud of her.
(My brother was recording for me while my husband sat at the table with the baby.)
Wow, you’re good with dogs and with kids
Looks like a service human
Well it looked like a performance. I also wouldn´t guess that would be a service dog on training.
I would have slapped him across the face if he would run to my service dog.
I remember my chihuahua when we first got her was very nervous around new people and would have a tendency to growl at new people who tried to pet her especially children anytime she went somewhere to the groomers or vet she had to be muzzled cause we were worried sheâd bite someone taking her to the pet store worried me I was afraid sheâd bite someone who tried to pet her especially kids so I bought her a little harness that said Do Not Pet and worked with her on her anxiety issues now she doesnât need it and has mellowed out with age and will let people pet her. Iâm glad and impressed with the way you handled this kid because this is how people get bit in the end Iâm glad it worked out well and was a great learning experience for both you your dog and the child
I love how ur calm about it and instead of like yelling you helped him đ
Respect to the dad who took away his little girl before she ran towards the service dog
Good way of teaching. He messed up, but now he knows. Sometimes the only way to learn, if by messing up.
This is a cute dog!
that’s a MASSIVE no no!
I have a service dog called tip and he is pitbull and he helps when I faint and I go into these like where I just loose it I come back like in 1 or 2 minutes but my dog helps
Dear lord, so attention starved and has to be in control of everything. Seen one vid where u get pissed at a lady for looking at your dog and talking to her and then the next vid your doing tricks in the middle of the store. I know a few people with very good service dogs, and yours is to she is wonderful but they are not controlling and know how the world works.
I know this is a stupid question but is it true some service dogs are trained to do like a weird version of CPR?
And that they can be trained to sense if an owner might have a seizure or drop in blood pressure?
Cause thatâs just cool
I suspect that dear little boy is autistic. My own son is, and I can see the same lack of fear, awareness or boundaries. Thank you for teaching him what to or not to do, with kindness, instead of simply getting angry at him. Well done sweet Mya.
I’m always attracted to all dogs and want to greet and touch them . I have a bond since 2 and am now 62. But with service dogs I must wait for permission.. usually less than 5 % are unapproachable because of timidness and the under 2% you can see it , aggressive.
You were so nice.
This os so distracting
Awesome! Some people are just like â donât distract my dogâ but you handled this perfectly
It was a accedent:/
Where did you get that harness for your dog
I love love LOVE how you handled this. Ive seen so many people who just freak out and yell from situations like this. Im a cashier and Im always slightly terrified when someone brings a service dog in. All of those people have been super nice though, and a few regulars who don’t mind answering questions will talk about their dogs with me. One girl who i talk with often said "even the times when im having an attack and someone comes over to ask about Shiva, ill try to explain the situation first, then talk when im able too. Education isnt important as my comfort, but the more people that are educated on how to interact with service animals, the more comfortable i can be"
I have no idea if i spelt her dogs name right or not
You handled that so well. Mad props!
I like how you were nice to him when you were telling him not to pet her but in a nice way also I liked how you let him help train her!
Baby in the back gets swept away lol
Maya was so good with the child just running up to her! â¤ď¸
I just wanna pet service dogs but I canât cuz they are working and doing their job donât talk or pet a service dog itâs doing itâs job
I wish you would have lambasted that idiot white privileged kid for his misogyny and privilege as well. He wouldnt have done that if he wasnât who he was. I know itâs uncomfortable to yell or use extreme language on a non birthing child. But next time. Please do. He deserved it.
Service Dog Paws I thought the kid was going to cry, if that were me I would cry and run away in tears
Whoâs fat kid is that
Tbh I wouldnât let ANYONE even make my service dog make a trick, for me, I like my service dog to only listen to me , so she doesnât get distracted if she hears the word âsitâ or âpawâ from a stranger and misses a command thatâs for my own good , so yeah .
Where are the childs parents
HĂŠ Looked like 6-7 but i ALWAYS know no touching dogs Before asking JUST If u READ this never touch dogs withouten permission
I like how you trained both your dog and a kid that day
The boy’s parents or guardian was being highly irresponsible, they dont know you or your dog and to let the kid approach without assumptions was dangerous on their part. You did nothing wrong, actually had surprised me letting the kid continue his interaction with the dog
Hey look a stage with someone singing. If I go over there I can be the center of attention.
Love the way you handled that! Ive seen other service dog owners just snap at children, which is really sad to watch. My service dog is really excited near people and loves to go up to random people and lick them and play around, so we are working on that right now! Have a good day/night<3
The kids were literally baited into the dog lmao coincidentally someone was recording for her
Had an experience very similar with a young boy but the child keep trying to hit my Chloe it was hard for me to maintain myself final his mother came over to help me explain to him that he should always ask and never hit a dog. I suffer from PTSD and I have blackouts my Chloe has never let me down and is always by my side
Poor parenting as always

Looks like youâre the one approaching the area with kids with your dog, while filming the whole thing hoping for some sort of an incident to be caught on camera.
