Meet The Puppies Training To Be Service Dogs

Meet the good boys and good girls of Doggie Do Good, a service dog training school in Arroyo Grande, CA. Follow as the dogs go through the training basics and begin to learn the extraordinary skills that make them heroes. We also meet a family of Puppy Raisers, one of the most crucial (and underappreciated) steps in raising service dogs.

Just sharing that Doggie Do Good are probably scum. Someone who got a dog from them has come out about their experience; their dog was matted, using a level 7 e-collar that would make the dog flinch and hide (handler was told to use a higher shock if she did that, to ‘stop her being dramatic’), and to always wear a bandana in public to cover the e-collar. The dog has continued GI problems because they suspect she wasn’t fed enough at DDG. The owner of DDG spoke to the handler and explained that ‘dogs are predators, you have to keep them in their place or they’ll turn on you.’ The dog also didn’t know what a rope toy was when presented with it. From leaving her puppy raisers to going to her handler was only four months, even though in this series they acknowledge that it takes a year, at minimum, of training to graduate. They are removing bad google reviews and apparently taking legal action against anyone who says anything negative about them, hence why they seem so ‘good’.

The handler is @zoeythesd on Instagram, and honestly the photos can speak for themselves.

This is interesting, im training my own service dog. He is not technically the right breed but he’s doing well. We have a mini game to teach him to differentiate between play and downtime. Hes 4 months old right now.

These dogs aren’t much help to the person. I recently saw one go sniff the arse of another dog while the owner was walking very close to the edge of a busy road. He was still sniffing the other dogs arse when a nearby woman held the woman, preventing her from getting close to moving traffic. I get that dogs like sniffing other dogs arses ( I don’t know why they like it as it’s disgusting) but surely they can arse sniff off duty? I think they are grossly overacted.

  32. cynthia hoghe on November 22, 2022 at 12:13 pm

also i want it to be a big dog its ok if its not though

  33. Hailey B. on November 22, 2022 at 12:13 pm

I think this video is fun, but it also doesn’t show just how accessible service dogs actually are for people. It doesn’t take a fancy and intense training course in order to get a dog legally recognized as a service animal. For some people’s disabilities they do need more rigorous training such as a seeing eye dog, but for dogs trained in things like pressure therapy, it doesn’t take as much work and can actually be done by the owners of the service dog themselves. There’s tons of online resources. You don’t even need paperwork recognizing a dog as a service animal, your dog just 1) can’t be a disruption in public (i.e. aggressive to strangers, barking a lot, not potty trained) and 2) has to be trained to perform a task for you. Places legally cannot ask you why you need a service dog, they can’t require you to have certification papers, or anything like that. The only things they can ask you is 1) is this a service dog? And 2) are they trained to perform a task?

  34. Maria Reyes-Ku on November 22, 2022 at 12:14 pm

I love your video. I hope all owners will treat these dogs with respects. I have seen some that yell at these service dogs, they keep them dirty and they have a very crappy mood. Others pretend to “train” their pets as service dogs and they think they’re capable.

  40. AngeLofLourdes on November 22, 2022 at 12:20 pm

So someone buys the dog, keeps it at home to potty train then takes it to a “training academy” which obviously is out of their pocket and they get to visit the dog on schedule and they are trained and returned to owner?

  41. Iris Naisbitt on November 22, 2022 at 12:23 pm
