My Mistakes (Involving My Pet Care)
Talking about which mistakes I have made, and which I have not, in response to all the allegations I’ve received. Please try to watch this all the way through as I brought my guard down more and more throughout the video. I hope this video helps ease some of the concern about my animals being in safe hands. I know I did come across defensive in some parts of this and I’m very sorry if that makes it hard to watch, but I hope you’re able to sit through it. I hope you guys are open to continuing to watch my content through all the ups and downs. I love you guys very much and am SO thankful to have the platform I do, and promise to do my best to give out safe messages about animal care taking and be the best role model i can be for these animals. I understand making mistakes when I have the following I do is a lot more dangerous than if I was making mistakes without the audience, and I will do my best to do better for you and these amazing, beautiful animals that I love so much. I do believe there is a difference between hate and concern, please try to always be kind and if you’re worried for someone you know, address it privately. If you’re worried about someone random on the internet, please reflect on your intentions when posting public accusations about them before doing so and claiming that it is stemming from concern. It’s ok to look out for others and make sure they’re safe, but please try to do it in the kindest way possible. It’s often very hard to determine tone of voice via text and things can get misunderstood.

What is it about human nature that makes us focus on the one negative person instead of the 1,000 people that are positive and supportive? I’m not singling you out because we are all guilty of it at one point or another. I think you are pretty awesome actually

I’m an experienced foster home for kittens (5 years and 60+ cats and kittens have been through our home, including one adult and 2 kittens who didn’t make it). Sometimes kittens just dont make it. Fading kitten syndrome is what rescues usually call it.
If you took the kitten to the vet then you did everything you could. No one knows where the kitten came from, or what her life was like before you took her in.
There’s a million possibilities, but honestly it sounds to me like you did everything you could. Please don’t blame yourself.
Kittens can die very easily but it’s usually a really bad case of worms where it’s pretty much undetected unless they poop (usually they don’t from not eating though). Anything else could’ve been found with testing. Another theory is, let’s say you were a terrible animal owner and did do whatever people accuse you did. The vets could’ve just euthanized the kitten because it was too late for it.
You gotta just ignore the shitty comments and only focus on the good ones

I work at a vet and have fostered over 30 cats and kittens. It is extremely common to lose kittens especially not knowing their history prior to taking them in. In addition, some 80,000 cats a month are euthanized in shelters and the majority of them are kittens under 8 weeks. That’s not an opinion it’s a fact. So had those kittens gone to a shelter, they would have most likely been euthanized. At the end of the day we can only do what we can do and no one who is happy and confident in their own life and space will rip a person to shreds who is trying their best in life. Your snakes have full beautiful sheds, your cats have no signs of respiratory distress or parasites and your husbandry is ideal. I urged everyone with an opinion to also acknowledge that the cost of leaving a pet at a vet emergency is not cheap and you prioritized the pet over finances. Everyone can mind their own business.
I’m so sorry. I’m sorry you tried to be honest, and it backlashed. No matter what you do, if you make your life public, there will always be someone out there to say you are a horrible wrong person.
Strange how no one says these things to people who have owned dogs and or cats throughout their lifetime and most of the time they say “Yeah, they passed.” No one bats an eye. We feel sad for the loss.
Almost everyone who has owned a fish should know that they just die sometimes.
The more animals you have the larger the ratio.

I once cleaned my bathroom sink (with bleach), and then decided to clean my fish tank… one of my fish jumped from the container I had him in (I don’t remember why I had them in the bathroom).. he jumped into the sink and went down the drain. I immediately opened my bottom cabinet and tore apart the pipes. I found him. He was dying. Obviously because of the bleach that had just went down the drain. I felt horrible. I bawled my eyes out. But I didn’t MEAN to do it. Just like you didn’t. Animals die. It hurts, and it sucks. But it happens. Thank you for being open about it.

(Before i say this I’m using my dads account) Taylor, you’re and amazing person. The thing that bugs me is there are pet tubers with 100+ pets! You have many animals yes, but they all seem healthy. It doesn’t make sense people are targeting you like this. Also love your vids 🙂
Hi @taylornicoledean I never usually watch YouTube videos that are over 20 minutes long but I sat through this entire thing and I want you to know that you did everything you could and that you’re in no way neglecting or abusing your animals. The fact that you are willing to learn about your animals and be open to other’s advice (don’t smoke around your animals, don’t use red heat lamps, etc) means that you are willing to do everything in your power to give your animals the best quality of life that you possibly can. Don’t let these people harassing you pull you down because they are honestly just trying to ruin your career, possibly out of jealousy that you have such an inspiring and cool job or maybe out of disgust you never know people’s motives because only those people acting up know their own motives. The best way to react to the hate is to only stay the way you are and keep on progressing because these people are trying to give you a hard time and they want a reaction from you. Don’t let them win. Continue being you and being a good pet mommy!

Hi I guess I just found your channel through the pet community and I don’t know the entirety of this situation but I think you and everyone else shouldn’t focus on yourself. This is about the animals and their safety. So many people have gotten pets through different routes whether it’s petco, breeders or whatever and everyone has different experience levels. Sometimes people fall down an internet whole and fall in love with different animals because they are beautiful and amazing and they decide that they’re going to get this amazing animal but it turns out that this animal is a lot to take care of. But now you love them and they are a part of your family. It’s hard especially when you love these animals but you have to realize that this is not at all about you. Everyone is just worried about these amazing animals that we have also fallen in love with. When something is not right with them than you, their one and only care taker, has to buck up and either learn every little thing you possibly can or give them to someone who will.
Screw them all. You give everything you can to look after them. Everything dies eventually whether it’s illness or age it happens. Sadly now people get offended by everything it’s ridiculous it’s clear you do not abuse your animals they aren’t scared of you or have any marks on them so they can go **** themselves

I think you should do a video where you address the spreadsheet that’s been going around about all the animals you have had, which are dead, alive and “unknown”. I think that would clear a lot of the controversy.

i think from what I’ve seen you have more successes than failures with your animals and care taking, it reallllllly seems like you have a good spiritual intuition of what to do with your animals some of it also trial and error (as you mentioned) but I think you have good instincts for what to do, lighting, temperature, how to know when they are sick or what to DO when they are sick. I’d trust my animals with you <3 sounds like the negative people are just trying to be assholes maybe confusing the dates of when videos are occuring and making assumptions but probably just trying to bad mouth someone they are jealous of. xox also prob those same people don’t know shit about raising animals. as most judgemental people are like that. also i believe God puts more animals on your path cuz you ARE a good animal owner.

I understand what you mean by taking care of animals being the only thing that made you happy at one point. I have been slowly buying pets. So far I have 3 beta fish (obviously in separate tanks), a bearded dragon, and 2 dogs. I’m saving up money to get a hedgehog and a chameleon and that’s probably all the animal I’ll get. I’m extremely bonded with with beardie I’ve only had him for a few weeks and he’s the sweetest cutest funniest little dude ever. I have severe anxiety and animals like Mushu my bearded dragon have helped me so much.
Omg I feel so bad because I know what’s it’s like to lose a animal I have 2 dogs and I love them with my life but when you lose a pet and then someone makes fun of you and says that you killed your animal it’s heartbreaking.
