Officers Honor Last 9/11 Search Dog With Moving Tribute Before Being Put Down

Bretagne, the last known 9/11 search and rescue dog, was laid to rest. Firefighters lined up along a Houston area sidewalk to honor the canine as she took her final steps. Bretagne served our nation from trying to find survivors at the World Trade Center buildings to searching for victims during Hurricane Katrina. After Bretagne retired at 10, she became a member of a local Texas fire department. Bretagne was 16-years-old. #InsideEdition

In my opinion they should’ve done it in a WAAAYYYY better place that she deserved. They should’ve done a goodbye in a national forest, in Yellowstone, A waterfall. Not a sidewalk…

16 is an incredible age for a Golden though. Most only live 10-12 these days and some much less due to cancers.

So sad having to put down a dog or cat. We’ve all had to do it. Makes grown men cry like a baby. You feel so terrible, and helpless.
