I used to feed purina pro plan focus. I feed raw now. The only thing I could “focus” on is WTF are these ingredients!?!?!

Hey! Great vid! I have a question tho. Can you mix freeze dried raw or real food with the kibble to make it better? (Ex: egg, cooked meat, veggies) im getting my first dog soon and i want to be more educated abt their diet.

  4. SHIN YUSKE on July 4, 2022 at 3:58 am

Doesnt some kibble have dog meat too?

And if people say they cNt afford raw if u divide cost per pound of kibble its actually more expensive. Chicken is as low as .69 a pound.

And if you have to feed kibble eould soaking it water help your dog digest it better ?

Thanks for this informative video!Another concern is looking at the how the ingredients being listed,if it shows wheat,by-product and lamb rather than lamb,by-product and wheat. The latter is better than the former since the AAFCO had stipulated the ingredients must be listed according to their composition if I’m not wrong? Not to mention, your video is awesome!❤️

Dog food(both and can dried) left my pup with horrible yeast infection.. and mange hairloss all over the skin in random spots.. I beat myself up everyday feeding him that purina puppy chow bullshit for 8 months of his life.. I’ve switched to raw and he is doing so much better! Hair is even growing back.. I hope I’m doing everything right nutrionally.. but I kno whatever I’m doing is wayyy better than that purina crap

So much lore in commercial dog food. Great video!

  8. wikiusz on July 4, 2022 at 4:02 am

Idk how it works in my country (Poland) but I’ve seen one brand that advertises their pet food as ‘full of meat’ and the ingredients list (‘with beef’) said ‘44% meat and products of animal origin (4% beef), grains, sugars’. I mean, yeah, it is with ‘beef’, but jesus christ–

My cat gets tiki cat dry food with freeze dried raw on top and water added to it and gets ziwipeak, feline natural, and instinct nature’s variety wet food at night. She’s unwilling to eat raw on its own so this is the best I can do.

Amazing video! I have spent hours reading labels and being so discouraged at what my choices are when it comes to their food. Even the expensive sought-after brands are horrible

  24. Livin.on.sunshine 2525 on July 4, 2022 at 4:29 am

Also, look at the salt divider: Find salt on the nutrition label (that’s 1%) and anything past salt has 1% or less in the food.

  25. Kaylee Singleton on July 4, 2022 at 4:29 am

Also everything listed after salt is less than 1% so the longer the list you have after salt the worse it gets

  26. Lily Lilith on July 4, 2022 at 4:32 am

God I feel horrible. My poor cat is over 5 yrs old and her whole life I’ve been feeding horrific kibble without even thinking about "ingredients?" No wonder she turned out so tiny. I’m now buying ‘Carnilove’ kibble for both my cat and puppy (have any idea if it’s good? most of the internet praises it), but I do wanna find some good wet food for them instead. Any suggestions?

  27. Friendly Neighborhood Ferrets on July 4, 2022 at 4:34 am

I absolutely LOVED this video! As someone who works in a pet store, I spend a lot of time explaining this to people. Probably one of my biggest pet peeves with kibble companies is when they label their kibble as "raw" or "raw coated" (looking at you Acana/Orijin and Merrick). It’s one of those buzz words that makes the kibble sound like it’s better than it is. YOUR FOOD ISN’T RAW IF IT WAS RAW IT WOULD BE IN THE FREEZER WITH THE ACTUAL RAW FOOD AHHHHHHHHHH

  28. bantry bay on July 4, 2022 at 4:40 am

I used to just feed any old kibble, usually ended up being blue buffalo and the like. One day I took a closer look at the ingredients and I realized that there were way too many similar ingredients between my dog’s food and my horses’ grain…the grain that I feed as an addition to them being outside on awesome grass 24/7 because they physically cannot get enough calories from it during the winter due to their work level and metabolism and because having tested the soil I know they are short on some nutrients and I need to feed at least a few synthetic vitamins. It didn’t sit right with me and I’ve been feeding my dog raw ever since.

  29. Jenny Tokumei on July 4, 2022 at 4:43 am

The intro lost me in the intro when it implied that the nutrition and healthiness of food hinges on whether or not you can pronounce the ingredients. I’m not defending food companies here, the fallacy the intro is using works both ways.

Suppose you *can* pronounce it, does that make it safe for your pet to eat? I mean, if it says it has garlic and onions in it, that’s basically poison for cats and dogs.

Meanwhile suppose the ingredients list contains "cyanocobalamin". Oooh, scary chemical name. It’s Vitamin B12. It’s very healthy for dogs. In fact, they’ll die if they if they never get any. Humans too will die if we forego consuming Vitamin B12 entirely.

Just because you can pronounce it doesn’t mean it’s healthy, and just because you can’t pronounce it doesn’t mean it’s not healthy. I simply CANNOT continue watching this video if it starts with this fallacy right off the bat.
