— I wear the mask due to my Mast Cell and Immunodeficiency, it filters allergens and germs. Thanks to IVIG (a treatment for my immunodeficiency), I no longer need it as often as before. However, I still wear it in higher risk areas, such as hospitals/emergency rooms.

  1. This is great! My SD was just a puppy last time we went to Disney, so he wasn’t with us.
Very little phases him other than us being separated on a bad day. Our zoo has a ski lift ride they call skyfari that he loves to go on. The employees always worry that he will try to jump off if scared. He just sits right next to me. I’m betting mine would be a barker, but don’t know for sure. He loves his kennel and I don’t have trouble when I’m in the hospital. I just stick him in the bathroom when I have to go for x-rays or surgery. He doesn’t bark in there but he does know that people come real fast if you pull the red chord on the wall. We have to make sure we keep it up on the wall where he can’t reach it! Harlow is such a good girl!

  2. I am so glad to know all of this about Disney. I can’t wait until I have the chance to go with my service dog. I am thinking of moving to Florida in the next year or so and knowing Disney is such an accommodating place for service dogs definitely puts it high on my list of things to do.

  3. Great video and very helpful, so pleased you all had such a great holiday, although I personally wouldn’t leave a harness and collar on my dogs when crated as accidents can and do happen.

  4. I love how Disney is so accommodating to service dogs. I’ve never been to Disney but have learned so much from your videos

  5. Hey I was trying to find an email address to ask you this, but what training have you done for Hippo in public bathrooms? It’s my only obstacle… thanks!

  6. Jacquie, I just want to thank you for doing these videos- on chronic illness and day to day life. I don’t have EDS (I have Osteogenesis Imperfecta Type I), but our diseases are "cousins" as my doctor put it- same gene, different mutations, different but similar outcomes. But you’ve encouraged me to really get out there in the world when I can and have a better outlook when I can’t, because after a reliance on the walker and wheelchair after 5 years of walking unassisted have kind of made me withdraw. I’ve also found that after showing some of my loved ones your videos, they comprehend more about being chronically ill/ disabled, and the ups and downs that come with it. I find it hilarious that by coincidence, both of our husbands are/ were reservists. I just wanted to reach out and let you know how much your videos mean to me!

  7. Very informative, thank you. As a matter of fact this Service is much more disability-friendly and accessible than even the german public buildings (e.g doctors health-insurance companys, City/county offices). Those have to be accessible by law, in real are at best semi-acessible. So glad that some Companies are such a rolemodel for disability acessability and so on

  8. You explained this so well Jaquie! The video examples at different rides were a nice touch also. This is a great blog post for everyone, service animal handler and the general public. Disney does a great job at making rides and other places as accommodating as possible, they go far and beyond other parks I’ve been to with my dog(s).

    Thanks for posting this!

  9. I saw a post online about Service Dog Days at Disney where they like close the park and the dogs get to go around and meet cast members or something. Are they real and would you ever take Harlow to one?

  10. I have never been to Disney and this makes me want to go with Jasper Jazz. Six Flags is the only place that is close to me and they do not hard service dogs well. They have no Kennels and no dog potty spots and they are not set up well for wheelchairs.

  11. Thanks for this video!! I just started training my PSDiT and enjoy Disneyland with all my soul. I was wondering and asking around what to do at Disney. This is such a perfect explanation!

  12. Wow that’s great information jaquie. Disney should sponsor this video. It is a question I’ve always had. I didn’t know they had a kennel.

  13. How wonderful! Harlow gets to have adventures too. She really seemed to be enjoying the rides she could go on.

  14. Thank you I was wondering how this worked.
I’m planning on going to Disney but not sure if my sd will be with me as can’t decide whether or not to take her on a plane. It will be a long haul flight.

  15. Video idea: with the end of the year and beginning of a new year, I was wondering if you would do a video on your 2018 health statistics, whatever you are comfortable sharing: number of surgeries, hospital admissions, doctors appointments, ER trips, infusions, number of doctors seen, etc. I have several chronic illnesses myself and when I think of my own health statistics for 2018 such as nearly 200 doctors appointments in just 1 year and numerous ER trips, I get depressed. When I meet people who have similar statistics to me or even worse statistics (not like it is a competition), I feel better. I feel less alone knowing there are other people out there like me too.

  16. I love that you are so positive in educating people about service dogs! As a SDIT trainer it can be hard to stay patient. Keep up the awesome videos

  17. Wow this video was a sugeston to me I am looking in to getting a service dog soon do to some health issues and I thought I would not be able to do things like this any more
