There was a comment about petting a skunk- I had a run in once inside the garage with a skunk. It was pitch black I was smoking a cigarette one night and I felt something pawing at my leg. I pet the animal grabbing and pulling my pant leg. I didn’t get a good look. It felt weird but I thought it was the neighbors cat that I almost constantly ran into. Well. I ended up picking up the animal and pulled it into my lap. It began to purr and make funny noises while I was petting it. Now, I sure your thinking this was a cat. It wasn’t. I didn’t find out till I went to relight my cigarette. I froze. It licked my cheek. I had been sitting there a good half hour petting this skunk . I carefully picked it back up and put it on the ground. What’s weird Is I told the skunk I had to go. It followed me as I backed up to the door of the garage. The skunk ran after me when I made a Beline to the door. It banged on the screen door for 20 minutes after I went inside.
I still don’t know what to believe but hopefully some one here that owns a pet skunk can explain this please. This was a wild skunk- why was it so affectionate and friendly? Is it strange for skunks to make content purring noises while being stroked and pet? Please help me out with this. And no I did not get sprayed . The skunk was just devastated when I put it down and quickly got away from it.
