Have you noticed any differences between how they treat pets in Korea and how they are treated in Japan?  I’ve seen cats as feared tricksters, and sometimes venerated animals, in Japanese folklore and in manga/anime as well.  Luna and Artemis from Sailor Moon are an example of the "venerated" variety.

Does anyone have any information on what its like to try to buy and rent with multiple large dogs, specifically a lab and a pittbull mix. Is it extrememly hard to find places to live with pets?

So I’m new to your channel and am currently binge watching, as you do. I’d be interested to know if as pets started becoming seen more as family if the cost of the vet increased. I read an article here in North America that said that if people see their pets as a part of the family and irreplaceable, the more they are willing to fork over to pay to vets when they are sick. So, the cost goes up b/c ppl are willing to pay it.

I had to put my dog down because she had kidney stones so bad that she couldn’t pee and her blatter was about to burst and she needed surgery. The surgery was about $4,000 USD and it was cheaper (about $300) to have her put down. I was really upset because I couldn’t help her and I’d already spent $300 at the last doctor that could only tell me she had kidney stones and sent me to a pet hospital about an hour from where I lived.

OMG watching this in 2017 – just 2 days ago, a taxi driver asked me to put my cat in the freaking trunk??? I was like, is this guy high? – obviously i said ‘ I’m not putting my cat in the trunk’ he was like – oh well. What an ASS!

Here in the US there is such a thing as Pet Insurance. But this only reimburses what you pay. If you don’t have the money to pay in the first place then it may not be that helpful.

The "pet" stores probably have a butchering hook in the back of the shop.

  12. GennyKoala on January 7, 2020 at 11:59 am

I have rats as pets and taking them to the vet can be super expensive but I love them so much! I always adopt whenever I get a pet because I find they end up having the best personalities.

Has G-Dragon’s kitty-cat love (the one he posts pictures of regularly on Instagram) affected Korea’s attitude toward cats?

  22. Nybble on January 7, 2020 at 12:17 pm

stray cats are the shit man. they are just relaxed in the uk ive seen like 50 stray cats and never been bitten

  23. Scandi Snowgirl on January 7, 2020 at 12:18 pm

Understand though, sometimes it’s something that can’t be fixed with a dog. My dog is a rescue dog and he gets violent with other dogs. With him it’s a defence mechanism, they think he must have had a violent experience with another dog as a puppy and he’s fearful of them. He’s 12 years old now so it really is very engrained in his personality. I ALWAYS keep him on leash though and I actually have the exact opposite problem: people with very friendly dogs off leash. They don’t have control over them and they run up to my dog who is on a leash and scared of them! It’s a baaaad situation. I usually just pick him up and quickly go the other direction lol. But he deserves a good life despite his hang ups and I love him (he is INCREDIBLY sweet with humans, especially children, just no dogs lol).

  25. talia maloof on January 7, 2020 at 12:19 pm

I understand the reason for adoption, but what happens when those animals aren’t bought from a mill?

  26. casualsuede on January 7, 2020 at 12:19 pm

You guys are terrific! I just stumbled upon your channel! I wish I had found your channel before my husband deployed. He’s in Korea right now and I was really worried about traveling with my cats and dogs. So glad you made these videos! Love your personalities! Love your furbabies too! My Maltese had a Mohawk once. It was neon green! lol

  30. SW on January 7, 2020 at 12:22 pm

Will you do a TLDR pet culture in Japan?! It’s so dog friendly! In a very different way than Canada/US
When I went to Japan, the dogs are extremely cute and incredibly tiny. Even men were carrying a toy poodle with a bow on their head

  31. Just cats on January 7, 2020 at 12:22 pm

there are doggie daycares in Korea and they seem to do really well.

Steal puppymill puppies wreck their financials. They cant afford to continue the business and the animal doesn’t have to suffer

  36. ArnoldQMudskipper on January 7, 2020 at 12:26 pm

    $500/month on medicine? Damn.

  37. dream on January 7, 2020 at 12:30 pm

Yeah for foreigners that are lonely in Korea, they might as well adopt an older dog and give him the best last years of his life, than committing to a puppy that possibly has 16 years ahead of them when they’re not sure how long they will be in Korea and if they will travel somewhere else etc.

  38. Miss Diana on January 7, 2020 at 12:33 pm

Will you do a pet culture vid for eat your sushi?

  39. pleinair on January 7, 2020 at 12:33 pm

It’s crazy how much pets are worshipped in Korea now lol. So many YouTube videos on them. But I still think some people are unsure about cats. My husband’s cousins were interested but definitely a little freaked out by our sweet cat. I think he melted their hearts before they left though.

  40. Farah Aqilah on January 7, 2020 at 12:34 pm

I’m a Malaysian but now in Egypt, and although people might criticize me for this, but I buy my pets more than adopt and taking cats from streets. Here me out! Here at Egypt the animals are not taken care of well at pet shop, most of the animals especially cats almost not fed at all. It so sad actually. I helped also by being a foster for the stray cats for ngo here that help with stray cats. So in Egypt, almost like 80% cats brought in pet shop is like saving them from dying really

  41. Anonymash on January 7, 2020 at 12:35 pm

Here is California it’s ridiculous. My puppy needed to have his eye looked at and the vet said he’d have to go to a "specialist". They wouldn’t even tell us how much it was for what he needed until we be brought him in. . . to bring him in just to look at him was $150. . . just to look at him not do anything.

  42. Sapphire Otaku on January 7, 2020 at 12:36 pm

For the off leash violent dogs, that happens in Alaska too. I was on a hike one time and 2 offleash giant dogs (a mastiff and a rottie, both had to weigh over 100lbs) just came up and attacked my dog for literally no reason. Their owners just stood there, after me screaming at them they calmly grabbed their dogs and said they were "Just excited", then walked away.
Hey guys, if your dog bites people’s throat and shakes them when it’s excited your dog might have some issues……

  43. Ouran Simmer on January 7, 2020 at 12:36 pm

I guess I should move to Korea to save money on my dogs
