For those of you who can read German, there’s an excellent book called ‘Katzen würden Mäuse kaufen’ (cats would buy mice) by nutrition detective journalist Hans-Ulrich Grimm.
Once you’ve read that, you will NEVER even look at ANY commercially made cat or other pet food ever again.
Same applies to commercial human diets, btw.

Hi Jasmine, Although your videos are very helpful in making people understand that fresh raw feeding is the optimum choice for cats, if done right, I wish you’d stay away from mentioning Hill’s (or Royal Canin, etc), and warn people about the marketing con for their so-called foods that are utterly disgusting — it should be common sense when you read their ingredients.

Many other brands are no better — and I wish you’d warn about wholly unsuitable ingredients like carbs/proteins from grains, veggies, fruits, tapioca, pea flour, potato, etc; as well as all the various horrific gums (agar, xantham, carageeenan, etc) added for texture; that it’s a no-no to give tuna (mercury-rich, and very addictive); and the unsuitability of fish in general. The latter 2 ingredients form the basis for many cat foods as they mask the fact that the ingredients are actually inedible cooked-to-death rendered crap! Pork meat and broth is also rampant — very sugary, and not species appropriate, and added mainly because it’s a mega-cheap meat-source.

This extensive use of rendered meats with no nutritional value, requires so-called "supplements" with other unsuitable and toxic substances such as d-methionine, synthetic vitamins, etc.

Ignorant companies such as Blue Buffalo have conned millions of cat owners into believing blueberries (and cranberries) are vital to keep a cat’s urinary tract healthy — it’s dangerous to add those fruits as they are sugary, and the acidity from them is an artificial "solution" that actually causes problems, not solves them — a healthy urinary tract comes from fresh raw muscle meats, fresh organs, bones, etc, in a raw feeding.

I’ve been told that going raw will give perasites to cats. Is that true? I don’t have a powerful blender but if I ever have some chicken left over I cut some pieces for my cats to eat, as a treat. I’m sure they’ll do good on a raw diet cuz they love raw chicken & even beef but I haven’t had the chance to buy all the ingredients for your recipe because of what articles are saying & what the vet might say. Cats don’t get worms for eating raw right? I haven’t seen all your videos so idk if you’ve addressed it.

  6. Sally Chamness on December 14, 2019 at 8:30 am

    Raw of course

I work in the veterinary industry and have always been told that raw is bad. I used to believe it but I know the veterinary industry has close ties to the pet food industry. My cat is currently on hills perfect weight. she has an automatic feeder. I’m looking into some better options that won’t go bad in the feeder

I would love to feed my kitties raw and you inspired me to take the plunge. At the moment, I feed them wet Hill’s Science. What do you think of that brand?

Next time I look at cat food labels, I’m bringing along a magnifying glass. Can the print get any smaller???

  14. Curlieq55 on December 14, 2019 at 8:42 am

    Why not seafood?
We only have wet food now (IAMS in the plastic click apart containers, one side am, other side pm).
Re playing with your cat, I’ve found that the twist off green (propeller) caps from GoGo Squeeze applesauce packets are great. He’ll get ready to pounce when he sees me start to kick one, he’ll carry it back to me, and he chews on them. No damage to them. Comment? Your opinion matters to us.

  15. Hilary Waite on December 14, 2019 at 8:43 am

I feed my cats raw cat food patties and give them a little bit of raw instinct kibble (which isnt raw) for added calories. I’m hoping to have them be 100 percent raw when I can afford it. 🙂

  16. Andrea Olesya on December 14, 2019 at 8:49 am

My family has been feeding friskies wet and dry from the grocery store forever. Ive been noticing my cats do not eat as much, whether its age or the food itself, idk. Ive been researching many animals over the year to educate myself how to better their health. My cats gained weight and are slower now. Is it the food? Also, we’re in tough position money wise, do you have better and cheaper recommendations???? We dont feed fish is one thing were doing right! Mom hates the smell.

Most people do not understand "profit" motive and capitalism. This is intentional public school imo oversight.

Real simple explanation. Id you want something cheaper you need a free market and profit motive. Housing, automobiles, cat food, medical care we can gree we want these things as cheap as possible. The cheaper the more people will be able to afford these items. (and cats get feed)

Things we DO NOT necessarily want cheaper and with a profit motive, cops, judges, armies, and violence related industries. I DO NOT want my local cop having a profit motive like cops in Venezuela.

Cheap cat food helps millions of hungry cats. People like you help me get the best for my Colby (a ginger cat) who I love sooooo much.

More economics watch Tom Woods videos on youtube.

    Thank you.

I get Newman’s own organic cat food to supplement the raw diet when a cat sitter comes to feed my babies while in college all day once a week. They love the raw diet.

  33. whyputaname2 on December 14, 2019 at 9:10 am

Both my cats eat can food and only one of them likes raw food and both only like fish and chicken, chicken as long as it is mixed with the fish.. The one that likes the raw food only likes fish and chicken… I don’t feed it to her all the time though.. Oh and she likes deli ham, especially the honey ham… She is as healthy as a horse..

My male cat is a very finicky eater… You put raw food in front of him and he sits there and has a look on his face like what the hell is that and doesn’t eat it.. Tuna, he loves tuna.. It’s the only fish he will eat.. As far as other meat is concern he’ll eat Chicken but it has to have Tuna in it.. Anything else he won’t eat it…I can put it in front of him and he won’t eat it… Doesn’t like raw food… The sad thing is he was raised on dry food.. I didn’t get him as a kitten.. He came to me about a yr ago and that is what I was told, he is 8 yrs old.. So I introduce him to can food and that’s when I found that he likes tuna, being his favorite and tuna and chicken…

The way I look at it feed them what they will eat.. You can lead a horse to water but you can’t make them drink it….

  34. Hilary Waite on December 14, 2019 at 9:11 am

I am definitely a helicopter cat parent. Haha Vital Essentials and Rad Cat are the best raw food brands IMO. I alternate my cats between those two brands and luckily they’re pretty accessible where I live. 🙂

Thank you for this video now I care even more about my kitty’s diet I just searched up how cheap brand foods are the main cause of giving cats diabetes!! q-q I’m currently using this website to search for the best cat food in my budget thanks again!!

If you have to rely on commercial food, Feline Natural canned foods from New Zealand do NOT have the garbage and dangerous fruits, veggies, grains, gums, potato starch, tapioca, pea flour, fish, tuna, junk so-called rendered meats, and synthetic additives present in every canned food available in USA. Stay away from Blue Buffalo, Purina, Honest Kitchen, Daves, Hill’s, etc, etc — all loaded with afore-mentioned highly UNSUITABLE ingredients for cats’ bodies.
