I took my dog, Choca, to a holistic vet for the first time. While the vet did not want to do an on-camera interview about her work, I learned so much that I decided to share. One of my biggest concerns was learning that Mars, Inc. has bout $9.1 billion worth of veterinary clinics. Since the candy company also makes pet food, including the prescription brands vets often recommend, I felt it necessary to alert the public that this is the case. Diet is often cited by holistic vets as THE MOST IMPORTANT aspect of your pet’s health care, so it is something that should be researched and taken seriously. VCA and Banfield are two big chains owned by Mars. Below are some helpful links. Though we saw a local vet, I’ve also added a link to information from Dr. Karen Becker, who is a holistic vet with a wealth of knowledge from whom I have learned a ton.
