I really like the way you broke down how much it costs to own an animal. Most people never think about the ongoing costs of owning an animal… which can be quite expensive. If you don’t make much money then it’s just another thing that’ll make your life harder to afford.

I got small dog. I don’t spend much on her. My dog tells me when my mail is here. Also helps me with my depression

  3. DW on May 20, 2022 at 12:17 am

Dogs, children, wives. Have to be a railroad tycoon to afford anything these days.

  4. RoRo on May 20, 2022 at 12:19 am

I understand this channel is about saving money but keep in mind people have to live their lives and be HAPPY. I look at my dog as a huge source of happiness. I consider my dog a family member so he’s priceless to me!

I’m from Kolkata, married living in Perth. No cats, dogs, I believe animals must stay outside, only two hens and 6 parrots, No Aircon, dishwasher, one family car. We don’t have debts. I go over to our neighbours and spend time with their dog.

where the hell you buying your pet supplies? Those costs are way to inflated.

Opportunity cost? Time spent playing or walking pet?

  9. Asian Commenter on May 20, 2022 at 12:34 am

If you can afford to give it a beautiful life, then do. But if you can’t, there is no point of bringing a creature in your surroundings and letting it suffer. That not only appiles for pets but also human babies. If you can’t give it a good life, no need. Stop thinking having children and pets is a must

i love my dog more than anyone thats not family. dogs are the best.

  11. Angel H. on May 20, 2022 at 12:36 am

If you count your dog expense under your children’s expense. You will find you actually save more bills than buying a dog. A reputable breeder’s dog is actually healthier than shelter dogs.

What’s the Real Cost of Owning A Pet?

Definitely not as much as owning a wife.

  14. Jesse Washburn on May 20, 2022 at 12:39 am

This is such a smart idea for a video. Almost everyone loves dogs, but I don’t think I’ve ever heard anyone break it down like this. Food for thought. Thanks 2 Cents!

My dog hasn’t even been a portion of that. Luckily he doesn’t get hurt often. He doesn’t really damage anything, we rarely take him to the vet since he is mostly healthy and we have never boarded him or paid for haircuts

  23. adem on May 20, 2022 at 12:48 am

If u spend this much for a dog your a fucking idiot . My dog lived to 11 and I did not take it to the vet other than just is vaccination shot when it was a pup. Remember it’s a fucking pet not your child. I see so many ppl spending bs services for their dog … it’s a animal , save your money for a house or on your kids futures ffs

  24. Abbie Alverez on May 20, 2022 at 12:48 am

The amount of joy and happiness my dog has brought into my life is immeasurable. She’s saved my life in many ways. She is worth every cent I spent on her. I hope this video doesn’t stop people from adopting or rescuing pets.

I bought my cat on Craigslist for $50. Picked him up in a Costco parking lot. Best $50 I’ve ever spent.

  42. Parakeet World on May 20, 2022 at 1:12 am

So true! Like fish and birds, many cost around 20 dollars, but their CARE. (I will only say about birds because i know a ton more about them than fish). Budgies costs twenty dollars, but their care. They dont live in a small cage and are decoration. They need a large flight cage, interaction, and enrichment.
Suitable flight cages are already a 100 out the bank/wallet. Then, the food which should be pellets. High quality food (which is NOT cheap seeds) can be pretty expensive. And i mean, fourty for one pound (for harrisons, one of the best brands). Then the enrichment. Natural and unique perches, foraging and shredding toys, etc.. Which, can actually cost around another 100-300. The cleaning too, youll need to find cleaning products and shit, also making sure the cleaning is FOR birds and is not our human products which is toxic. Its sad that birds and fish are seen as decoration. NO animal should be decoration whether its a tick, ant, bird, a dog, etc..
